“Life does not come with a manual, it comes with a mother”
Mother’s Day is a special day to all of us, whether you are celebrating your mom, being celebrated as a mom, or celebrating a special person in your life who just happens to be a mom.
Growing up, every child sees their mom as “Superwoman”, and then as we grow up and have children ourselves, thinking our mom is “Superwoman” is an understatement. So this Mother’s Day, treat the woman who deserves everything to something she will never forget.
- Make her home sparkle. If you are a mother yourself, you know it is not a walk in the park managing your house on top of everything else life demands of us. Thank your mom for all she does and has done for you by cleaning her house as one small token of gratitude.
- Offer her a spa day. Whether your mom’s favorite day-escape is a facial, a massage, a visit to the hair salon, or a full day at the spa, surprise her with her favorite mini-getaway.
3. Wine and Dine. Take your mom to a local winery or brewery that she has not yet visited and dine in to make the experience even more
4. Give to other moms. Local shelters dedicated to mothers and their children are always in need of support. You and your mom can give back to other mothers with a small donation of your time or gently used items.
5. Enroll her in an interesting class. Is there something she says she has always wanted to try, but would never actually sign herself up for? Treat your mother with not only signing her up, but with you joining her to go to the class.
6. Sign her up for a wine of the month club. If your mom loves a refreshing glass of Chardonnay in the summer and a rich glass of Merlot on the cold days, sign her up for a wine of the month club so that she’s got the perfect bottle of wine year-round.
7. If your mom prefers beer, there are also beer of the month clubs.
8. Help her plant a garden. May is the perfect time to be in the garden when all the beautiful flowers and vegetables are growing. Take a few hours out of your day by spending that precious time with your precious mom creating not only beautiful scenery, but unforgettable memories.
9. Let her pick. All of the above ideas are thoughtful and unique, but remember that sometimes she just wants (and deserves) to choose what she wants on the day that is actually about her. So before you make plans for her, simply ask what she would like to do.
10. Keep it simple. To her, your mom’s idea of a perfect Mother’s Day may just be spending time with you. If that is what she is asking of you or from you, then give her the best gift she could receive… the gift of time.
